This page lists the hardware and software prerequisites for installing and running Deepsona.
Meeting the recommended specifications ensures optimal performance, especially when working with
long multichannel recordings or computationally intensive analyses such as time-varying loudness
or high-resolution spectrograms.

Note: Deepsona is a 64-bit application exclusively. 32-bit (x86) versions of Windows
are not supported. ARM-based Windows devices (e.g., Surface Pro X) are not officially tested.

Memory consumption scales with the number of channels, recording duration, and active analysis engines.
The following table provides rough guidance:
Scenario
Typical RAM Usage
Single-channel, 30-second recording, FFT analysis
~200 MB
8-channel, 5-minute recording, order + loudness
~1.5 GB
32-channel, 10-minute recording, full spectral + psychoacoustic suite
~6 GB
EMA/ODS with imported geometry (10,000+ nodes)
~4 GB
Important: Memory consumption peaks when several high-resolution analyses run
concurrently on long multichannel recordings. Ensure your system has sufficient RAM or close
unnecessary applications before launching large batch analyses.
Optional: Acquisition Hardware
Deepsona supports direct data acquisition from the following hardware frontends. These are not
required if you only analyze pre-recorded HDF files.
Device
Driver
Connection
Notes
Portable recorders / modular systems
WinUSB (automatic)
USB 3.0
Requires the vendor's frontend runtime as shipped with the device. Use a dedicated USB port; do not connect
through unpowered hubs.
General-purpose DAQ cards
Vendor DAQ runtime (see the card's own documentation)
USB / PCIe
Install the card vendor's runtime before first use, as described in the card's own documentation. Common synchronous analogue-input models are supported.
Portable Recorder Setup Notes
Connect the recorder and power it on before launching Deepsona.
Do not connect the device in other acquisition software simultaneously—only
one application can hold the frontend connection at a time.
The first USB bulk transfer after connection requires a 0x3C trigger command. If the device
powers off unexpectedly on first contact, power-cycle it and reconnect.
Verify that the device appears in Windows Device Manager under
Universal Serial Bus devices.
Network and Licensing
Deepsona analysis does not require a network connection or license server. All computation runs
locally on the workstation. An internet connection is only needed for:
