AI Assistant & Reporting

The AI Assistant is a chat-driven panel that runs native analyses on your measurement data and assembles formatted reports (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) from the results. You describe what you want in natural language; the assistant calls the software's own analysis and rendering tools and returns charts, tables, and documents.

Important: The assistant never invents measured numbers. All values come from the native engines running on your data — the AI only orchestrates the tools and writes the narrative around the real results.
New to the assistant? See Getting the Most out of the AI Assistant for a library of ready-to-use prompts that showcase what it can do.

Opening the assistant

Click the robot icon in the top bar to open the docked AI panel. Type a request and press Enter; use the Stop button to cancel a running turn and Clear to reset the conversation.

Configuring a provider and key

The assistant talks to an OpenAI-compatible chat service. Configure it in Settings → AI Assistant:

Settings are stored locally and take effect the next time you open the AI panel. If no key is set in Settings, the assistant falls back to a DEEPSEEK_API_KEY entry in a .env file placed next to the application.

Typical workflow

  1. Ask the assistant to list available files and channels.
  2. Request an analysis (for example, "compute the 1/3-octave spectrum for channel 1 and show it").
  3. The assistant runs the native engine, then posts the chart or a rendered table into the chat.
  4. Add report sections referencing the analysis results.
  5. Ask it to generate the report in the format you need (xlsx / docx / pptx).

Report output

Generated reports embed the software's own charts and the real metric values. When you save a report, the Save dialog opens at the folder configured under Settings → Files & Folders → Reports & exports folder (if set); otherwise it uses the last-used folder.

Data privacy: Chat prompts and the numeric summaries needed for a request are sent to the selected AI provider. Choose a domestic provider (DeepSeek / Qwen) when data must stay in-region.
